Maki Hirota

Maki Hirota wurde in der Schweiz geboren und ist Violinistin, Musikpädagogin sowie Eventmanagerin.

Sie studierte Violine an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK), der Haute École de Musique de Lausanne sowie an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz. Ergänzend absolvierte sie 2026 das CAS in Eventmanagement an der Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW).

Bereits im Alter von zehn Jahren wurde sie als damals jüngste Jungstudierende in die Klasse von Prof. Zakhar Bron an der ZHdK aufgenommen. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit als Musikerin entwickelt und organisiert sie Konzerte, kulturelle Veranstaltungen und interdisziplinäre Projekte.

Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit liegt in der Musikvermittlung und der pädagogischen Arbeit mit unterschiedlichen Altersgruppen.
Als Mitinitiatorin von O-POINT ist sie primär verantwortlich für die Organisation und Produktion der Plattform und verbindet dabei ihre künstlerische Erfahrung mit organisatorischer Arbeit. 

Maki Hirota was born in Switzerland in 1994 to a singer and a violinist. She began studying the violin with her father at the age of three and, at the age of ten, became the youngest junior student at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in the class of Prof. Zakhar Bron. At twelve, she made her debut as a soloist with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra under Muhai Tang at the Tonhalle Zurich. She has since appeared as a soloist with the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra and the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra, and has received several prizes at the Swiss Youth Music Competition.

She graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2016 before continuing her studies at the Haute École de Musique Lausanne and the Zurich University of the Arts, where she completed her master’s degrees.

Alongside her career as a violinist and music educator, Maki Hirota has worked for several years in event and project management, organizing concerts, festivals, and cultural events. She combines artistic expertise with strong organizational and conceptual skills and has completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Event Management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

Her work is driven by a passion for innovative, interdisciplinary cultural projects that make music accessible to diverse audiences and bring people together.
